Mary joined the Barteaux Durnford team as an associate in 2018 after a busy and successful year of articling with the Firm. A valued resource for senior counsel, she assisted at labour arbitrations, provided research and drafted submissions before the Labour Board, Workers’ Compensation Board, Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal, Nova Scotia Supreme Court, Nova Scotia Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada

During her years at Barteaux Durnford, Mary has gained advocacy experience in a broad range of labour and employment law issues. She is on top of the latest developments in Employment Law and keeps employers informed with posts to Barteaux Durnford’s Labour and Employment News blog.

Previous work with a technology start up in Toronto has instilled in Mary a strong interest in workplace technology and privacy law issues.

Originally from Edmonton, Mary moved to Halifax to attend law school. In her free time, she enjoys hiking Nova Scotia’s coastal trails, yoga, travel, and skiing.

Mary was very involved in the Dalhousie Law community. She worked as a student research assistant and completed a semester at Dalhousie Legal Aid Service. During that time, she gained advocacy experience in administrative, family, and youth criminal matters.
